I was honored to attend an event premiering the Sgt. Henry Johnson Commemorative silver medal at The Palace Theatre in Albany, N.Y. on Wed, June 27, 2018. I won a nationwide design competition to create a medallion to commemorate Henry Johnson and his heroic service to the nation during World War I. He was a soldier in the 369th Infantry Regiment of Albany, NY who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor by President Barack Obama in 2015.
On hand were veterans of the 369th, also known as the Harlem Hellfighters and Jahkeen Hoke, winner of the annual Henry Johnson Award for Distinguished Community Service.
