BIOGRAPHY: Chris Costello is a graphic designer, illustrator, typographer, and educator with proficiencies in traditional and digital media. He has won awards for advertising design excellence with many works published in Graphic Design USA Magazine (GDUSA). His hand-lettering and logo designs appear in Leslie Cabarga’s hardcover, The Logo, Font & Lettering Bible from HOW Design Books and he has created several original typeface designs distributed by Monotype including the notorious font, Papyrus. Clients include Scholastic Press, IBM, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Random House, The Folio Society, Simon & Schuster, Harper Collins, Oxford University Press, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
He is a prolific coin and medal designer who has worked with The United States Mint since 2010 and is credited with 25+ designs that appear on American coins and medals which include one prestigious Coin of the Year Award (COTY) winner and two COTY award nominations. Other numismatic clients include The Royal Mint, Osborne Mint, National Collectors Mint, JBCZ Group, LLC, and Gold Standard X with designs appearing on United Kingdom and British Commonwealth commemorative coins and many best-selling privately minted bullion products.
Chris studied graphic design and visual communication at Northeastern University in Boston where he received a Bachelor of Science degree. He is an Adjunct Professor at Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt), an Advisory Board Member at Middlesex Community College, and currently works as Senior Graphic Designer for Massachusetts nonprofit, The Trustees, which is the oldest land conservation and cultural preservation organization in the world.
